Completed latest Apple TV upgrade, system failed, now have rapid flashing light

Recently, I upgraded my Apple TV. The upgrade appeared to have failed. I am now seeing a rapid flashing light on the front and the TV screen displayed the iTune logo and a USB cable.

It's gone wrong.

You need a microUSB to USB cable to connect to a computer running iTunes to restore the unit.

AppleTV2 does not need power lead during this process, AppleTV 3 does.
