Wifi disconnects whilst streaming video (YouTube and LoveFilm)

First of all, can I just say that ios 6 is an utter shambles and has ruined my Ipad!

I have an Ipad 2 and recently performed the update.

I have a strong wifi connection and can browse the net continuously without the wifi signal ever dropping once. However, when I watch a film on Lovefilm or a YouTube video the signal disconnects after 3 to 5 minutes. When I return to the home page the signal instantly connects again. I start to watch the video again and the same thing happens!

I never had this problem before, ever.

I have tried resetting settings, resetting the wifi connection, changing the connection setting to 'auto', downloading apps again, resetting the router (bt home hub) and still no luck.

I can watch videos fine on Ps3 and mobile phone so my Internet connection must be ok.

This is driving me mad!

Also, I really struggle to download updates, even if I do so one at a time. They just freeze and a message pops up saying they cannot be downloaded at this time.

Additional things to try.

Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

I have had this exact same problem with my iphone 4 since changing to bt total broadband and using their home hub 3 a few weeks ago. After many hours on the phone to BT changing wifi channels, resetting, changing settings it seems clear that theres nothing to resolve the issue via the router.

However, after a colleague leant me his home hub 2 for the past 3 days, we've experienced a seamless broadband experience so am now unsure where the problem really lies. It only seems to be with video streaming (youtube, facebook videos, any videos embedded on websites) and its getting very frustrating now as BT say they cant do anything about it and i cant find anything specific to our problem via apple so any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Martin
