has anyone got their red cross of death ipod repaired succesfully?

as above. red cross on screen. unable to get into disc mode or reset in any shape or form. has anyone got theirs repaired. is it worth the cost etc. not the first apple product to implode 60 seconds after any warranty finishes. shame on you apple. can anyone help?

Some have been able to by slapping their iPod with a little bit of force (not much) against their leg or a somewhat soft surface. Usually it was only a temporary fix though.


As to whether or not it is worth the cost to have it fixed is entirely up to you. How much it costs depends on whether or not you choose to go with Apple, a third party service, or opt to swap out the drive yourself. Here is Apple's pricing: http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/prices/
