A 2005 at 225$
It's worth no more than that $225. You'll find them on craigslist in that price and at around $125 to $150. It's 7 years old and has a 1.8 Ghz cpu which isn't that great today. You want to check out how clean it is inside, if the cooling fans are all caked up with dust, and the power supply fan is also. That indicates it has got alot of use, if they're clean that's a good indication it may have not been used extensively. Someone could have went in and cleaned it up, but most people don't.You want to see if it has the OS disk or restore disk with it, that is important.
Myself I won't pay more than $100 for it, but that's just my opinion.
Agreed. $100-$150, but not $225.
The 1.8 GHz is a bit slow, even for many apps of that era......
A DP 1.8 is also no newer than 2004.
June 2004 http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/powermac_g5/specs/powermac_g5_1.8_dp_2.htm l
Original (2003- Early 2004) http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/powermac_g5/specs/powermac_g5_1.8_dp.html
The original was the better of the two. It had 8 RAM solts and PCI-X expansion.
The June 2004 has only 4 RAM slots and only regular PCI.
Thanks a lot for the informations🙂, I will check into the computer.
Thanks a lot 🙂, I will check your link or you post...
No, that is very expensive. $150 at the very most.
Unlike the many on here whom think $225 is pricey, I feel it is reasonable. I bought one 1.8 dual a few weks ago with monitor and accessories galore for $125, but after recently checking the local Craig's List, there are none below $350. Given it is San Diego, it may be a bit pricier, but id say offer $175-$200 and go from there.
$350 should easly get you a Dual-core 2.3 or Quad 2.5.
I paid $100 for my 1.6 two years ago, $125 for my dual 1.8 last year and $400 for my Quad last year. Computer prices only go down, not up.
Even my MacPro with upgraded video card, 4 hard drives and 8GB ram only cost me $1000. A little bit of shopping will save you a lot of money.
