if you use icloud on the ipod and you have the find my ipod feature turned on then go to icloud.com and login. As long as the ipod is on and getting a wifi connection you can track it by clicking on the find my ipod icon from the icloud.com page.
I losted my iPod Touch last week at the Pediatric's office. Unfortunately, I didn't have iCloud or Find My iPhone apps installed. Is there anyway to track the device then? I have many of my kids photos and videos, which have sentimental value to me.
No - there is no way.
Your iPod content including photos should be on you computer if you have been syncing the Device on your computer.
