You simply do so, between the volumes shown in FCPX..
Or you can use the Finder to make a copy.. (if FCPX is closed!)

Projects must be in the root of a directory (not in any other folders.

Slight correction!
They must be in the Final Cut Projects folder in the rooth of a drive, or in ~/Movies/Final Cut Projects on the System drive.
