May 30, 2013 5:34 PM in response to davidbsmithby the42ndfl00r,It took me three visits, even with video.
1. All I got was a diagnostic.
2. They replaced my logic board.
3. The problem returned and they replaced my screen.
I brought video all three times and none of the geniuses had heard of the problem or could find anything about it in their 'special genius files'. It seemed like no one believed me. So they very well can give you the shaft. At least they do around here.
My Apple Store is in Oak Brook, IL if that matters.

Jun 1, 2013 2:01 PM in response to YCLAMby jbryan02,My retina has been flickering for months.. It's been so long, I've gotten used to it to where I don't even notice it if I'm working...
Mine was purchased around July 2012. I guess I should go to a store with a video of it and get it checked... Will return with update

Jun 1, 2013 2:24 PM in response to YCLAMby sanjampet,YCLAM,
You have a 1 year warranty, 90 days of free phone support, and 14 days from purchase to swap for another machine. If you take it in to the Genius bar, I recommend making an appointment. If it seems to do it when warm, go early and fire it up to get it up to temp so you can show them.
Take advantage of this!

Jun 7, 2013 8:27 AM in response to YCLAMby skeedawg,Having the same issue since purchasing mine 10/2013, not sure when it started but seems like it was not too long after I bought it. It was seriously wacked today with lots of flicker after coming out of sleep mode, which is what brought me here looking for some answers. Thanks for all the details on what others have done to get it resolved, hopefully that will help get it done righ the first time.

Jun 7, 2013 8:58 AM in response to YCLAMby CPTNAhab,The logic board was replaced in my machine under warranty. It has been several days now, and I have seen no screen flicker. So far, so good!

Jun 11, 2013 12:54 PM in response to YCLAMby citationcj2,Im so starting to get annoyed now.
My screen flickering started about 3months ago. Every once in a while, nothing major.
At this stage it is getting worse and worse, the whole screen judders and shakes and flickers that im getting sick. Apple obvoiusly dont care. I spent fortune on my macbook pro retina ( so called high end laptop).
Im totaly disapointed in this product, and i wonder when will apple do something about it.

Jun 11, 2013 1:25 PM in response to citationcj2by Ryan Sandridge,FWIW, even at the WWDC Keynote, they had the flicker problem. At just over 41 minutes into the broadcast, right as he is wrapping up the segment on Calendar, you see a brief but familiar flicker. That is unless they go edit that out.

Jun 20, 2013 12:05 AM in response to YCLAMby jeremyunruh,So i too have had the same problem and after browsing other websites I have found the root cause to the LCD flicker.
It's the WIFI. Turn off your WIFI and see if it goes away. Mine did which made me clue in to other possibilies. I then switched from 2.4ghz b/g/n to 5gz and the flicker rarely appears.
Let me know if your experiments yield the same results.

Jun 22, 2013 1:59 PM in response to jeremyunruhby wawaOFP,That's one trick, another is to place your thumb or some other object (I use a small battery) between the space where the screen and macbook hinge connect. It seems to be some sort of grounding issue. This whole thing is stupid anyways.

Jun 23, 2013 6:02 PM in response to wawaOFPby jeremyunruh,So I knew about the placing your finger around the F2 key and couldn't believe that was working. I got tired of doing that then discovered the WIFI thing I mentioned above. I also tried shoving electrical tape where my finger was and no results. You nailed it on the head.. grounding issue and the small battery is a great idea. Was thinking a small piece of tin foil might also do the trick and if place right would not be noticable.
I agree. this hole thing is a let down. I have most apple products including the Mac Pro and am upset they haven't done some sort of recall or free fix for this considering the cost of these notebooks.

Jun 23, 2013 11:50 PM in response to YCLAMby clevelandownz,Guys. It's a pinched wire, have them reset your screen and make sure it is set right. That IS all.
-
Jun 24, 2013 1:16 AM in response to YCLAMby citationcj2,Somepeople say it crippled screen wire. I dont think thats the case on my retina.
My laptop stays open all the time, rearly close the lid and its flickering hundred miles an hour.
Also pressing where the f3 button is makes no difference.
I also restored the laptop to no effect.
Very very bad show from apple for a high end computer.
Looks like this one is going to be last of my Apple products. Back to PC!!!

Jun 24, 2013 8:16 AM in response to YCLAMby Andy C.,I sent my macbook pro in for repairs 3weeks ago. Took about a week to get it back to me.
They replaced my logic board(at least that's what they said) under warranty and its not flickered once since.
The Apple Genius said he has seen 2 of these screen flicker problems before mine and they apparently seem to be caused by different issues. He said one was easily fixed by a logic board swap while another needed its entire screen replaced.

Jun 24, 2013 8:18 AM in response to citationcj2by Andy C.,Have you taken your macbook pro back to the store?
What did they say?

Jun 24, 2013 12:34 PM in response to YCLAMby mylan512,I started to notice the flicker a couple weeks ago. It happened so quickly that I thought it was just my eyes. Over time, the flicker occured more and more frequently. One night, the screen went flicker crazy so I grabbed my phone and took a video of it. The next day, I took it to the Apple store, showed them the video and they replaced the screen, no questions asked.
