Feb 22, 2013 8:13 PM in response to YCLAMby drLee26,1) Key in "ColorSync Utility" in spotlight
2) On "Profile First Aid" Tab, Click on Verify
(It seems like the color profiles is missing or corrupted.)
3) Click on "Repair"
4) Press "Shift" + "Command/Apple" + "G"
5) Enter the following directory "/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/Displays"
6) I move this bad color profile "Color LCD-00000610-0000-A00E-0000-000004280380" to a temporary folder.
7) My screen do not experience any flickering until now.

Feb 23, 2013 8:06 AM in response to drLee26by YeshuS,Hi drLee26,
I did the steps you mentioned yesterday. But here's what i observed once you reboot the mac a new file gets created in the same folder with name "Color LCD ....00XYZ... "
So the old one is in temp folder still. But a new one got created in the original folder.
Did the same happen in your case ?

Feb 23, 2013 6:07 PM in response to YCLAMby Fidel Ac,i found that if you cover the top of the vent on the left, just a little( as in place your finger over the vent right above F2) and the flickering should stop immidiatly...... coming back after you take your finger off
-
Feb 24, 2013 6:12 PM in response to Fidel Acby solgel,I tried placing a finger on the vent above F2 multiple times and it actually works... Is there a light sensor there or something?

Feb 24, 2013 6:15 PM in response to solgelby clintkev251,Im guessing that it is where the connector for the display module sits
-
Feb 24, 2013 6:24 PM in response to clintkev251by solgel,Could be, but I've also tried pressing just above F2 but not on the vent, and this is not effective, whereas mere presence of fingers over the vent is effective.

Feb 24, 2013 6:26 PM in response to solgelby clintkev251,It could be that more heat builds up in that area causing some magic to happen with the components

Feb 26, 2013 11:28 PM in response to YCLAMby Exiges,Has anyone else basically been told by the Apple Store to "deal with it" because there's no way of reproducing it, and 4 videos of flickering that contain your serial number simply isn't enough to warrant doing anything beyond a system test?
-
Feb 27, 2013 3:35 AM in response to Exigesby clintkev251,Nope, I had a short video that could have belonged to anybody, they also couldn't reproduce it in store, but the guy took my word for it and ordered up a need display and logic board

Feb 27, 2013 3:07 PM in response to clintkev251by YeshuS,Clintkev251 : Was both display and logic board replaced for you. How is working now ?
For me only logic board was replaced, for few days it was fine but then issue started happening again.
It is not that frequent now, but still there and i think will increase over-time as it did earlier.

Feb 27, 2013 3:10 PM in response to solgelby YeshuS,Solgel : The flickering of the screen happens so randomly while browsing or watchig videos .. basically when in use it happens anytime. And it is very fast.
Are you referring to the same flickering, how do you manage to keep hand on/around f2 so quickly.

Feb 27, 2013 3:12 PM in response to YeshuSby clintkev251,Yes, they repalced both since the technicion couldn't diagnose exactly what the problem was. That was about a month ago and as of yet I have had no flickering or any other issues. (Also nice that they replaced the display because there was a tiny little scratch in one of the corners that had been driving me nuts!)

Mar 3, 2013 11:03 AM in response to YCLAMby berenErchamion,THis is now happening on my machine. I tried a few of the suggestions with no success. I guess I'll have to take it in to the store.

Mar 3, 2013 11:07 AM in response to berenErchamionby berenErchamion,I did check my colorsync stuff and no problems there.

Mar 4, 2013 10:58 AM in response to berenErchamionby MadDogMikeATL,I have the flicker issue too, but only sometimes. I've been trying to figure out what triggers it, and I've noticed something weird. For me, the laptop works fine all day, when I'm working at my desk. Then the problem would occur at night when I use the laptop in bed. I was using a latptop table like this. I stopped using that table and I haven't had the problem since. So, I'm wondering if it's some kind of static electricity issue between the plastic top of that table and the bottom of the MBP. What kind of surface is everyone else using when they see this issue?
