Mar 4, 2013 2:35 PM in response to MadDogMikeATLby k46,I have this problem too. I took it in to get it fixed. I had brought with me this video to help them figure of what was wrong.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZ0ec0LpP-k
They replaced the main logic board, but now the problem has started again. And now it is getting worse. This is a huge inconvenience because I use my computer solely for my work, which happens to be video editing. And let me tell you it is not very professional to be working with a client on a video and then you cannot get your computer screen to stop flickering. It does seem to flicker more when I am using the computer in the dark. Although, I am a highly loyal Apple customer, I am getting pretty peeved with them for not addressing this issue when so many seem to have it. I plan on taking my computer back in to see if they can do anything else to try to fix this problem.

Mar 4, 2013 8:30 PM in response to k46by YeshuS,K46 : I had similar issue as shown in your video.
First repair : logic board changed, was fine for 2 weeks but flickering started happening again so problem not solved.
Second repain : LCD clamshell (complete top of the laptop) has been changed. It has been only 2 days since i got it back .. so need some time to confirm if the issue is resolved. But seesm fine so far.

Mar 7, 2013 8:12 AM in response to YCLAMby Contreras2004,I'm from Chile and I am having the same issue... for what I have been reading in this post most people who got the clamshell replaced resolved their problem. Does anyone experienced this problem since they replaced the clamshell? I think im taking my mac this or next week.

Mar 7, 2013 12:35 PM in response to YCLAMby differenceclouds,I have this issue, and I have noticed that it seems to happen most after I have been carrying the machine around. I do this quite a bit, and it seems to "wear off" after a while of the computer resting in one place... which leads me to believe that it is a physical issue. pinched wire sounds about right.

Mar 10, 2013 2:49 PM in response to YCLAMby RDslva,I have been having this issue, and have gotten the logic board replaced. It's been three days most since that happened, and I saw a flicker earlier today. Bookmarked this thread to bring to Apple and show them that it looks like the clamshell replacement is fixing the issue.

Mar 13, 2013 5:58 AM in response to YCLAMby vic_seadog,My retina mbp is being serviced for exactly same issue. Of course I couldn't produce this issue in apple store, but thanks to this forum I went prepared, night before I made some video clips. So they will replace the logic-board, will see in five days.
One think tough, some of you mention about SSD being soldered to the board, it is not. SSD in those machines is Apple proprietary design, yet removable and obviously upgradable , thats if you can afford the upgrade :)

Mar 14, 2013 4:23 PM in response to vic_seadogby vic_seadog,So my MB is back, they replaced display clamshell, logicboard, heatsink. For now, it works perfect, like before. I will keep you posted.

Mar 14, 2013 4:37 PM in response to YCLAMby davidbsmith,My rMBP had a new logic board installed in December. The flickering stopped for a while but then came back in late January. I needed the computer every day so couldn't give it up for another week (the time it took Apple the first time). I took it in to the store last weekend and the genius recommended replacing the screen, but doing it at the store. They ordered the part and I took it in last night. We'll see how that all turns out.
Mine never exhibited the flicker at the store either, but like most people I took video of it. Also, I took video of the effect of touching the body and the lid around the F2 button, which stops the flicker. The genius wasn't interested in that though.
Another thought - most of the time when mine is flickering the worst, it's doing a Time Capsule backup. Has anyone else noticed whether it just flickers when backing up? It would certainly explain why it never happens in the store.
