publishing calendar with 10.6.8 ical

How do I set up a private server? I see that ical has a publishing option which allows you to set up a private server.

How do I do that. I am sharing a calendar from a computer running 10.6.8

You would have to be running a server capable of handling CalDAV and this would require you to understand the server technology, and also to have an internet connection which provides a static IP number, can handle the expected number of requests, and can be left running 24/7: many ISP's don't allow you to do this because of the increased bandwidth requirements it's likely to entail. It's not really a practicable option unless you are experienced in this sort of thing (which I'm not, so that's as far as my information goes). If you want to pursue this you could try in the OSX Server forum, though I'm not at all sure that this can handle CalDAV. MobileMe was one of the few servers to do so.
