iPhone 5 not printing

Since I bought the iPhone 5, I can't print from my HP AirPrint compliant printer, Officejet 6500A Plus. My iPhone 4 worked perfectly. So what happens is when I select an email or page to print it will see the printer. When I hit print, it will through the motions on the phone, but the printer does not come to life and print.

Any ideas?

Start with some basic troubleshooting steps:

1. Is the iPhone on the same Wifi network as the printer?

2. Have you checked for an Firmware upgrade for the printer? The HP website and the HP Print Utility on your computer can tell you if you have the latest firmware on the 6500A.

3. Have you tried a reset on your router and printer (unplug them then plug them in again). Lots of times this sorts things out.

Let us know how it goes with the above steps.

Wow, can't imagine what could be going on. All your settings appear to be correct. I have an iPhone 4S and an iPad 2 and both print fine to my HP wifi Airprint printers.

I've heard there is an issue with the Wifi on the iPhone 5, and that it affects certain connections. Since I do not have an iPhone 5, I am not intimately familiar with the problem. Hopefully, someone else can chime in and help.

Re: Hi Marvin,

Could you do a full hard reset on your router? Unplug your router, and leave it unplugged for at least 30 seconds.

Most of the issues people have had with iOS 6 have been solved with a simple hard router reset

Hi GarlandM

Well, I did what you asked and no luck. I think I'm gonna go to the Genius Bar with this. Most of them are not really Geniuses in my opinion but it least it will be addressed to Apple.

Hey Marv, have you checked to see if there is a print job stuck in the queue on your phone? Press the home button twice to open the multitasking bar and see if the Airprint icon is displayed (maybe with a red number in the corner). If so, tap it to bring up the Airprint app. Delete any print jobs that might be pending, and try to print again. See if that helps.
