Changing from iCloud to Gmail?

Dear all,

at the moment our iMac, iPod touch and iPhone are perfectly synced via iCloud.

My wife on the other hand has a (sorry) Android phone.

The only way to keep all 4 devices synced seems to be to change from iCloud to Gmail, since all devices can work with Gmail, while Android phones cannot work with iCloud.

I am only interested in syncing the calendar, contacts and notes. Mail is not necessary.
