Oct 18, 2012 12:24 AM in response to jo'elleby Laxman25,I had a net gear wireless n router that was great. My router now is an apple airport(sounds apple koolaidish), but it works great. I have 2 phones, 2 xboxs, 2 iPads, a pc, and MacBook all connected to it wonderfully. Streaming a video and playing a video game with zero lag has been great.
Have you tried the proxy troubleshoot and/ or the encryption?

Oct 18, 2012 12:26 AM in response to jo'elleby Laxman25,If yours is old, I'd get a new one. Routers do have a shelf life. Especially if yours isn't a wireless N router, I'd go for a new one. Technology advances and you got to keep up I guess :)

Oct 18, 2012 12:53 AM in response to Laxman25by jo'elle,I am using a Netgear Rangemax WNR3500. It's about 2 years old at most. I really have tried every solution suggested to me so far. Today an AppleCare tech told me to make a repair appointment. It's frustrating because things were working fine before the iOS 6 update. My iPad one, Mac book pro retina, iPhone 4S that I did not upgrade to iOS6, squeezebox, my sister's Xoom tablet and her Thinkpad and Droid all work just fine with the wifi network. The only thing changed and different with my new iPad that is having the wifi problem is the iOS update.

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Oct 18, 2012 6:20 AM in response to jo'elleby Kilgore-Trout,At home, I'm using an Airport Extreme which is working quite well. But to be honest, I have yet to encounter the first WiFi hot spot I could not connect to and use without problem, inlcuding when I was out of the country.

Oct 18, 2012 6:23 AM in response to jo'elleby Laxman25,Only 2 years.... You shouldn't have problems. Go to the apple appointment. Last thing I'd suggest is update your routers firmware. Or see if there is one.
Net gear is www.routerlogin.net (from a connected computer). Popup- Default name is Admin and password is password. That was with mine anyways. Check the manual or search online for the router type.

Oct 18, 2012 7:12 AM in response to jo'elleby Rick600,Linksys E4200 V1. No problems after going to iOS 6. Had to reset the iPad 3 as usual and power down and up the router. I also updated the E4200 with the latest firmware. I am using Apple's recommended router settings documented in Texas Mac Man's post.
