Hi All,
If you scroll down you will see a thread I started about losing my preferences and permission to my home directory after trying to change the name.
I have now lost all preferences to do with Mac mail and need NEED to retrieve my old e-mails that were all in my system.
I don't use time machine.
Surely they must be saved on my mac somewhere?
How can I get them back?

There are 3 Mail folders, none of which have old e-mails in them only options for stationery etc.
Could you be more specific about what I could search for? i.e typing something into spotlight to search for it.
I've tried searching for some of my contacts e-mail address in the light that they would throw a root up to some files but nothing so far...

I don't know what you did to your home directory. I can't see it. Take the Mac to an Apple store or AASP and see if they can help.

Apple store is 140 mile round trip!

Try an Authorized Apple Service Provider.
There are none in Edinburgh unfortunately so it is still a 140mile round trip

Assuming you mean Edinburgh, Scotland and not one of the several in North America, have you tried Opal? They are an Edinburgh based AASP.

I have just tried to send them an e-mail but now my email server wont connect.
