2012-006 removes Java Preferences - need 32-bit

I have OS 10.7.5 and need to preference 32-bit version of JVM to run some software that requires as much. Now the Java Preferences are inaccessible. Any idea how I can do this? Thanks.

Mac mini, Mac OS X (10.7.5)
