Q: Old Airport Extreme as a wifi booster?

I have the Newest Airport Extreme that I am using as my main Basestation & I need to boost the signal to the front of my studio.  I already own an older Airport Extreme Basestation, the one that looks like a flying saucer, & I would like to try to use it as a booster.  Is this recomended?  I cannot get it to show up in my Airport utility.  I am using a MacBook Pro17 with Snow Leopard installed & Airprot utility version 5.6.1.  If it is fine to use this way does anyone know how I would go about it?
