Oct 18, 2012 9:15 AM in response to Rosemary71by planb77,It could be an indication or a damaged or dying hard drive. I would recommend doing a disk diagnostic on the iPod's HD using the instructions given by turingtest2 in this older thread. He also covers what the resulting numbers indicate.

Also try using another available USB port and USB sync cable to rule out the possibility of a bad USB port or sync cable.
