Updating Apps through iTunes

I work in an educational environment and I am updating apps in iTunes but when I go to update the apps iTunes downloads the amount of copies that I purchased throught the VPP. So instead of just downloading 1 copy of Keynote or iMovie it's downloading 24 copies. Am I doing something wrong or is there a way to fix this issue? Thanks for any help.
