My Notes disappeared quite unexpectedly yesterday. I see where I have a backup, likely from installing ios6 a few weeks ago. My question is, if I restore from backup (as I've seen articles suggesting-rather than a sync), will I lose photos I have taken since the backup?

Yes, if you don't extract them from the camera roll to your computer first. You should be doing this on a regular basis, just as you would with any other digital camera.
How can I get them there without doing another backup or sync? I don't want to lost the previous backup that has most of the erased Notes...
