PDF printing problems

I have isolated safari 5.1.7 security update as a source of problems printing PDF's with my Canon printer.

When I cue a print job in safari, preview shows a single black page, regardless of the number of pages in the PDF.

Work fine if I restore the system to before-the-update state.

Any ideas?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)
