How do I turn off keyboard sound when dialing on iPhone 5

I swear I'm not loosing my mind, my phone always dialed out silently regardless of the mute slide not being engaged until this morning when I hooked it up to my PC to pull a pic off of it and suddenly, ...voila - everytime I dial out now I have this obnoxiuously loud digital dial sound for every number I press.

I am fully aware that the mute button will take care of the noise, but who the heck wants to hit that everytime and it never mattered before. WEIRD !!

As far as I know the iPhone has always supported DTMF, and I am not aware of any other alternative to silencing it than what is described above. You could check the manual if you like http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf

I think your right. I think I AM, ...in fact; losing my mind (at least on this issue). Everyone I've talked to agrees that you cannot silence the dialing "pulses" without engaging the mute function. I tend to keep my ringer pretty low and I'm thinking that perhaps it's always made the pulse, I just didn't really pay attanetion to it since it was relatively quiet. My volume was turned way up this morning and thats what caught my attention.

If confusion over phone features and behavior were indicative of insanity, I'd have been locked up ages ago. 😉

YES!!!!!!!!! EVERYONE ON HERE IS WRONG. MINE HAS BEEN SILENT EVER SINCE I WENT TO SETTINGS AND SET "KEYBOARD CLICKS OFF".......UNTIL TODAY. i put all my itunes into the cloud and all of the sudden, my dialing sounds are back and won't go away. i rebooted, keep turning it off...nothing. IT'S BEEN SILENT FOR MONTHS, now...***?

HAAA !!! So I'm NOT loosing my mind ? I would have sworn on my life that my phone never made those sounds when dialing both on my iphone 4s and 5 until the other day, ...but then when the overwhelming majority of users told me this was not possible, ...I buckled under the pressure !! (jk) Whatever, ...I guess it is what it is. Time for me to move on with life...lol

No you're definitely not! Mine was silent up until recently. I have an iPhone 4 and my mom has an iPhone 5 and has been complaining about the same thing. It happened all of a sudden and out of nowhere. Would love to get this turned back off asap!

You and your mom are aware that you can momentarily slide the mute switch on, dial silently and then slide it off again right ? I know it's a pain and I'm sure you already knew that but just thought I'd mention it. It actually only takes one-millionth of a second to do but I still don't bother. I'm too impatient....lol.

I know I'm not crazy. I never have my phone on mute unless I'm in the movies & my keypad NEVER...and I repeat NEVER made a sound. Just this week it decides to make those funny little annoying sounds. Did those of you who swear it was silent before recently upgrade your software to the new IOS 6.1.3? That is the only thing that has happened in the last week that I can think of and I can't make it silent without flipping the mute switch now.

No you're mos def not crazy. The same things has happened to many of us on this thread. I actually haven't upgraded recently. I have an iPhone 4 and I've been on 5.1.1 forever, so it can't be because of a recent update.

Honestly, ..I can't remember when I did my last upgrade. I always just do it whenever it prompts me so if 6.1.3 is the newest one, ...I'm sure I recently upgraded to it.

Same thing's happened to me. Always had keyboard sounds off even when not in silent mode and now suddenly have irritating sound when dialling numbers. There doesn't seem to be an option to change it in settings 😟 Must be the upgrade.

Appreciate hearing everyone else's "same thing with my phone all of a sudden" responses. This so-called feature is highly irritating, not to mention rude if you are in a group of people. Seems like a throw-back to the first ever cell phone before they became "smart". Let's hope Apple makes a fix SOON. Are you listening Apple software people?!!

Dang... I upgraded my iPhone to a 5 from 4 just today and the keyboard tones are really annoying when dialing. Apple has had plenty of time to fix this in an update... Looks like they are just silent.
