Upgrade DRM songs

Has Apple ended the ability to upgrade DRM songs? I have tried to upgrade 10+ times in the past few days and always get the same "unable to upgrade. Store may be busy." message. My new SONOS sound system doesn't read the one-third of my iTunes library that is older, "protected" files. HELP!!
