How do I get voice to text on my iPhone 4 I just purchased?

I recently purchased an iPhone 4; my friend has the same phone with voice to text on it, but apparently mine does not. Is that an app? Or should it be on my phone?

Correct, the iPhone 4 does not support dictation (which requires Siri).

There is a free app called "voice texting pro" in itunes. It works independentaly of messaging but it does work. You say your text and use your contacts list to send.
