Q: I have just got an iPhone 4S. It has been unlocked. I have updated the software and reset the phone. I put my tesco sim into it and it say it insert a compatible sim. I can't do a restore from iTunes as that isn't coming up as an option. Any ideas?

Hi I have just got an iPhone 4S. I have the unlocking email. I have updated the software and reset the phone. I put in my new tesco sim. Plugin into iTunes and it says on both the phone and iTunes that "the SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported". I have followed the instructions online the support page but still get the above message. I cannot restore from iTunes as when that message appears I can't seem to do anything else. Any ideas.

Unlocking email from whom .Only the carrier who locked it can unlock it ?

I have had it unlocked from orange. It was my dads phone on a contract and he got it unlocked from orange.

this tells you how to process the authorised unlock via the carrier

the Tesco sim is an genuine iPhone micro sim from Tesco not a cut down??

I have done what the support said and it still doesn't work. It is a genuine iPhone micro sim.

Try calling AppleCare they may tell you whether Orange unlocked the iPhone or not

No. Only the carrier it's locked to can unlock it. Talk to them.

If it is locked to a UK carrier then you will have to be an active customer of the carrier and the iPhone must be active in the UK on their network
Hardly likely from India
