Applications in OS X appear to be self-contained in /Applications, but in reality they depend on, or have installed multiple system libraries and support files on the boot drive.


The previous advice you received above, about not deleting or moving system files, is sound knowledge, if you value Mac stability.


There are a few posts in the Apple community where people have decided to outsmart Apple and damaged their OS X installation and Mac stability by rearranging things.
