Multiple kernel panic related to java

Hello,

Since some weeks, and since i've updated to Mountain Lion, i've got multiple kernel panic related to java.

The computer is a MacMini, note that the macmini just have a FileMaker Server 12 and act "just" as a server: i'm not using it for other things.

There's no screen connected on it, I'm using it with Remote Desktop.

I've tried 2 things:

- Updated to 10.8.2 with combo update

- Update to Java latest version without using the update manager

If someone can help me...

Here is the panic log:

Just to add another data point, I know there are a lot of people who have flagged they also have this issue, I'm seeing regular panics on a Mac Mini running 10.8.2 with a very similar log to yours. I don't know if the mention of Java is a red herring but we're running CrashPlan, Jenkins and OpenFire Java applications.

Since my original post, I've been in touch with Apple.

Apple sent me a diagnostic tool which discovered that the RAM (8gig) or logic board might be the problem.

They replaced the unit. I swopped it out yesterday.

The thing is, since contacting Apple 10 days ago, and reinstalling everything from scratch (for the third time) a week ago the unit has been trouble free for 8 days...!

I still returned the bad unit.

As an FM12 server box, this Fusion drive MacMini is phenominally fast.

Feb 26, 2013 6:37 AM in response to Miskia

Same problem here, Mac Mini hosting FMServer automatically reboots several times a day, the crash report to send to Apple contains the line "BSD process name corresponding to current thread: java". Tried on 3 different Mac minis. First 2 were originally Mac mini servers that were reformatted and Base OSX 10.8.2 installed, no server. Lots of automatic reboots. Only app added was FM Server. These were installed from scratch, no user migration, no other apps installed. Last Mac mini was a straight non-server, brand new off the shelf, only FMServer installed (and FM Pro - not running). Getting reboots from kernel panic several times a day. All these Mac minis had SSD drives. I have repaired permissions, run fsck, Safe Boot, etc...

2.3 GHz Intel Core i7 Mac Mini with 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 memory, 256GB factory installed SSD internal drive. Time Machine is running, but its set to ignore the FM Server folder. FMS is set to back-up the DBs to a FW800 connected drive. Apple Display connected via Thunderbolt.

Mar 29, 2013 4:54 AM in response to Miskia

Same problem. Same/similar crash report. Stupid solution...

A 2012 Mini Server running only FileMaker Server would restart itself 2-5 times a day since mid January always with the crash report stating "BSD process name corresponding to current thread: Java" I too reinstalled, updated and.... cursed.

We have run restart free on our server for a week now.

Solution? We swapped a CyberPower UPS (battery back up) with a model from APC.

The CyberPower model was put on a work station running 10.7.5 and that machine has not had any panics.

My guess is there was a software incompatibility with the USB auto shut down managment and 10.8 server.

Apr 3, 2013 7:01 AM in response to andrewrob

I'm using a 2008 Mac Pro 2 x 2.66 gHz and 6 GB RAM running OSX10.7.5 (it won't run Mountain Lion, which is why I originally purchased the MacMini).

I'm running both my internal business files - as well as hosted customer files (in seperate folders) which are under development.

There IS a noticeable speed redraw difference between this and the Mac MIni... which was amazingly fast.

There are some screen redraw issues in 12 which the MacMini masked and which are just noticeable (.5 second delay). I'm happy with it for the time being...

On a related issue, I'm wary about using Client OSX in any new Mac, because of lack of acces (without a hack) to Apache.

What I've got is acceptble... until the new Mac Pro's make their appearance, then I'll review the situation.
