Unresponsive Nano

Please help, unplugged my nano from the charger this morning, screen was showing a charged icon and a locked icon. No amount of toggling the switch back and forth would unlock the device. Went to the help page, did the "hold the menu and select button manuver." I now have a blank screen and a totally unresponsive nano. I've updated my itunes and tried different cables but the computer does not recognize the nano and I've tried to repeat the menu/select button thing numerous times to no avail.
Do I go straight to service or is there a fix for this?

Well if you have tried everything and all has failed then you should probably get a replacement. Here is a link to service your iPod http://depot.info.apple.com/iPod/ or you can go to an Apple store and get it replaced there too.

I gather from the lack of suggestions that I'm screwed as far as resolving this problem on my own. So on to the next question, when I get this one replaced, as it's only two months old, does the warranty start anew or does it remain at the original date of purchase?

You're warrenty is from the original date of purchase, you can always check be clicking support at the top, scrooling down a bit and on the right is a box to input your Serial number.

HELP PLEASE!!!

My ipod nano seems to have lost most of the songs. I don;t seem able to retrieve these files. My ipod is also not responding to my software. Is there anyway you could please help me on this matter as I have just bought it, put loads of files into it. Is this common of these ipods?
