You can enable the Develop menu to clear the cache if you don't want to clear your history...
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Select: Show Develop menu in menu bar
Now from the menu bar click Develop > Empty Caches
I do not see that option . I use Safari 6.0.2.
Can you help ?
Oh I found it, sorry
Really ? Where in the finder exactly ?
Should I delete the cache.db ? I will test again the option avaliable and see after if the size of the file has decreased. Now is 1,7 MB
Which version you use ?
I use Version 6.0.2 (8536.26.17)
But you move to the trash that file cache.db?
I prefer not mess with that.
I think you have somethig wrong in your system.
I just gone to the file again and now it has 1,5MB and I did not yet empty cache
I agree, but I was glad to find out how to get rid of it finally. I have made my thoughts on this known, and will contiue to.
Solved mine as well. Thanks, Carolyn! 🙂
and just to be clear....History -> Clear History WILL NOT clear your cache
good answer - thank you!
I simply use an application called ccleaner which is now also available for mac... simply clears away everything.
just dont understand why safari wont have a way to do it itself
GREAT idea there, Yellowbox!
😎
Or you can just do CTRL+SHIFT+F5 ?
i don't have that option in the advance tab in preference Version 6.0.5 (8536.30.1)
how do i empty the cache
thanks
Rob
This doesn't actually work. Safari keeps a cache file even after turning "disable caches" on and emptying the caches. It makes it impossible to web develop on. Total fail for apple.
