I have a HP Laserjet 3050 all in one and with an update to OS X 10.8 the scanning function does not recognize the printer. I have tried all of the posted options with Image Capture and Preview and they don't work. Anybody?
No driver updates for your machine for 10.8 yet.
Either they are working on it, or not and you'll be forced to buy a new printer.
Apple's rapid OS X upgrades are a pain in everyone's behind, so you have to look before you leap.
You may be right ds store. Old printer and they probably won't issue a new driver for a machine that old. It suits what I need so I have resisted buying a new printer, I buy too much as it is. I get so many pages from the toner on this model and I don't print that much anymore but I scan a lot so an air printer may be in the cards. Crap!
This is just bad support. I just moved to an iMac only to find my HP 3050 won't scan?! I'm pretty much good with everything else so far in the Mac world, but Apples implied "gee that ***** buy a new printer" answer is not acceptable. Now I gotta plug my 3050 into a Windows laptop to scan documents. Well done, Apple! Well done!
Do you have all the latest software updates including the Driver Updates issued in the last few days?
Have you tried removing the Printer and re-Adding it?
I have downloaded and installed the latest HP update listed on the Apple site under downloads. No I have not tried removing the printer, will do that now.
Hp Director, Image Capture and Preview still do not see the printer. Print function works just cannot scan, all of them are grayed out.
HP made a 10.7 version and 10.8 is not that much differnt so just wait it out, a update might come or call them and ask.
