I am trying to buy a backup battery for my Mac Pro. When I look for a listing for a BR 2032 I'm shown a CR2032 as a substitute. Will the CR2032 work? Thanks, Jim

I'm trying to buy a backup battery for my Mac Pro. When I look on the Internet (Amazon) for a BR 2032 (Apple user guide) I'm shown a CR2032 (same as the battery for the Apple Remote). I have looked at the specs and they are very close to the same. Will the CR2032 work?

Thanks,

Jim

Wikipedia says:

The BR2032 battery has the same dimensions, a slightly lower nominal voltage and capacity, and an extended temperature range compared with the CR2032. It is rated for temperatures as high as 85°C or as low as –30°C, [1]while the CR2032 is specified over the range -20°C to 60°C. [2][3] BR2032 also has a much lower self-discharge rate. Using a BR2032 in place of a CR2032 will not damage equipment, and in most cases will function properly.

BR 2032 batteries are used in controls for garage door openers and key-fob automotive door locks.

Grant,

Just thought you would like to know the final outcome for the battery dilema.

Apple specifies the BR2032 for the Mac Pro.

It's interesting to note that Apple specifies the CR2032 for the Apple Remote.

Allied Electronics (http://www.alliedelec.com) sells the BR2032 and the CR2032

so I bought (1) BR2032 and (4) CR2032 (I have 3 Apple Remotes).

Although I probably went overboard in my quest to solve the battery issue I'm

comfortable with the outcome and now I can move on to bigger things.

Watch my for my upcomming questions.
