Q: Where's the best place to purchase extra RAM needed to upgrade a Mid2007 iMac from Snow Leopard to Lion?

It took me awhile to get on board and update me old college iMac. I have installed Snow Leopard and want to upgrade to Lion but I am running 1 GB of RAM. I need to upgrade to at least 2 GB (although I would like to upgrade to the max of 4GB for my model).

Where should I purchase the RAM? Are there differences in "brands"? What do I need to be looking for? Thanks!

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

There is a difference in brands. There are only two recommended vendors these days, Crucial and OWC. People have reported problems with many other brands, yet Crucial and OWC's prices are as good as any you are likely to find.

Go to Crucial and download the little app that examines your system and recommends RAM upgrade options.

Their prices are good but don't have to buy it from them - determine what you need and buy it from Crucial or OWC / MacSales.
