I recently purchased a song, but during the download, I received an error message (-1450 The iTunes Library file cannot be saved. An unknown error occurred). The song didn't appear in my purchased music list. I tried purchasing the song again, but was told that by iTunes that I already owned a copy. Sure enough, I checked my library folders and the song was there. I double clicked on it, and it opened no problem...however, about a minute into it, the same error message popped up (-1450). Any suggestions? I've never had this problem before...
I have had this 1450 problem for a month now. It can't go for more than 1 day without appearing again. It is seriously giving me the shi*s because Apple has not said a word about it anywhere and so many people are having the problem for so many different reasons. I am about ready to request a refund on 2 iPods as they are virtually unuseable as well as an album and single downloaded off Music Store.
The support hours are completely inconvenient as I can't access this computer during those hours to go through any problems. I have gone through about 6 different fixes on these boards which while appreciated have clearly not worked. 1 of them forced me to reinstall Windows.

This helped for awhile, but now nothing seems to work. I've tried turning off my firewall/virus software, excluding all the iTunes folders/music folders/etc from the viurs scanner...still the same error. I'm starting to get pretty frustrated. I know this is a common problem...any other suggestions? Tks!
I am utterly defeated. New problem...the last group of songs I purchased will not play. They appear on the library list (when it is present, assuming dreaded -1450 doesn't appear), but will not play.
This is unsatisfactory. After this many publishes, we (the user) shouldn't have to develop 'work-arounds' to these sorts of problems, as this specific error (-1450) has been around for awhile.
I am experiencing the exact same problem right now. But my songs are hit and miss on which ones I can play. When I try to import my iTunes folder I get like 75 percent of the songs in there. They are still in the folder just not in my library and I cannot play the songs at all..
I'm using Windows Defender for Spyware protection. I began having the 1450 Error 2 days ago. I finally tried telling Windows Defender not to scan iTunes' executable and told Windows Defender to ignore the itunes folder. (Where iTunes keeps the database file; "itunes library.itl") This has fixed the problem.
My itunes library.itl file is a bit over 10 megs in size. I THINK this is an issue with the file sizes Windows Defender sees as a threat.

I started getting this message continually today. Everything was fine before. It has nothing to do with virus checking. The only thing that's changed is the performance settings for virtual memory on my system. I changed them to server instead of program biased. I will now change them back and tell you what happens.
The problem has gone away. My system is still low on resources, but iTunes is managing to get enough not to cause errors.
The solution was Control Panel / System / Performance & Maintenance / System / Advanced / Performance / Settings / Advanced / Memory Usage - Select Programs not Server. Restart.
I had been having problems with virtual memory on my system, for example Outlook 2003 slowed down so that it takes 3 minutes to start up, so I was trying some different settings for Virtual Memory. Now I still have the same problems with Outlook, but at least iTunes is ok.
