if i buy an iphone at apple do i have to get service there with them?

i want to buy an iphone., i was thiking going to walmart or other type of store than Apple,but i cahnge my mind after i bought an ipod touch.so i was wondering do i have to get a carrier there cause my mom have service with cricket.

you have to buy an factory unlocked iphone in order to use existing carrier

If you want to use your iPhone with Cricket, you MUST buy it from Cricket or from Apple for use with Cricket. Cricket, like all CDMA carriers, will not let you bring your own device,
