precisely my concern (as many other users of similar threads) where-in there are conflicting information and while everyone has a different input to provide, there is no one from Sprint, (who ideally should be in a position to answer this issue) who is coming forth with an observation.

what is really confusing is the partially lock feature, either the entire phone should have been locked or totally un-locked, why partially lock on the SMS SENDING feature.

so we are back to square one, WHAT REALLY IS THE PROBLEM with Sprint iphone 5 CDMA phones.

What is the misty behind locking the SMS feature? Remains un-answered!

Since there is no iPhone 5 unlocked that you can buy in the US which you said you did, how can you expect that it will run without any issues? The iPhone 5 you have in your hand are not meant to be used in India. No matter how you like it to, it will not work perfectly. Buy one that are sold officially in India.

you clearly are missing the point....i bght this phone on the advise of apple representatives in the apple store, not out of a dream or fantasy....and this is exactly why the people on this forum, (thread of which was posted by me which also I am part of as well) they did mention that this phone was good to use anywhere in the world.....so if they anticipated this error then they should have informed me/us, just like every other client who bght the phone with the intention of using it in NON-US territory!

if you read that thread you will realize that we are on this forum, just for that, however applicable for people who have bought these phones from other stores other than APPLE (radio shack is one of the names that i read about) then this forum may not apply to them....

trust you get my point!

The problem is you bought a locked phone in one country for use unlocked in another country. This is not a supported use of the iPhone.

WHAT REALLY IS THE PROBLEM is that you are using it in a way that was never intended and is not an advertised mode of operation of the phone. You took a chance and you lost.

Sprint has no obigation to solve the problem, because they never said it would work.

Of course, the problem could simply be that your carrier has not provisioned your account correctly.

What a load of rubbish - this is a user forum and other users come here looking for advice, so nobody really needs to inform you of anything unless they wish to publish a comment.

If you are purchasing an expensive item such as an iPhone, the onus is on you to weigh up everything you have been told about whether the phone will work or not and then make that decision for yourself. Nobody else can tell you what to do and the onus is no on us (forum) members to tell you anything at all - it is only advice, but the final decision about buying is yours and yours alone, so if you happen to make a mistake and buy a phone from the US that won't work in India, then that is your mistake and you have nobody else to blame but yourself.

All you need to do is read the many threads on this forum about the same issue.

What you perhaps should have done is wait until the iPhone 5 became available in India and if you really wanted an iPhone that badly, then you should have gone to a country where the fully unlocked iPhone 5 GSM version was available for sale fully and officially unlocked - the UK iPhone 5 would be more compatible and there are always going to be issues with using US iPhones.

In the end you 'pays your money and you takes your choice' - your decision and nobody elses!
