Q: Macbook Pro 2010 cannot update

I have a Mid 2010 MacBook Pro. I am unable to update any software. Once I check for " Software Updates " the mac goes through the process and determines what needs to be updated. I tried to update all updates collectively and received an error message. I then tried to only select one update and install to no avail again. I put in a call to apple and never got a return phone call. I am troubled. I cannot install my purchased copy of Mountain Lion unitl the OS X Lion is updated. Every time I update any required updates I get an error message such as, "The Update Mac OS X Update can't be installed".

I currently have Software  Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 (11E53)

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.4)
