Force iPad into Recovery Mode:
1. Turn off iPad
2. Connect USB cable to computer; leave the other end alone
3. Press and hold the Home button down and connect the docking end of cable to iPad
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect To iTune" screen
5. Release the Home button
6. Open iTune
7. You should see "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode"
8. Use iTune to restore iPad
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad

I have repeatadely done this and the only thing that keeps coming up is an error message saying....the ipad software update server could not be contacted.
Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later???
Must of kept pressing ok to that then restore 30 times or so is this right?
Or do I have to keep taking the charger out and repeating step 1-8?
Please help stressing me out!!!
Stuck. I tunes won't connect
I had to repeat the process several times before mine worked. By that I mean the entire process. A little frustrating but it did finally work and so far it hasn't happened again.
You might also make sure your internet is working on the computer you are connecting to.
