transfer pictures to ipad using Apple usb adapter

I bought the Apple connectors for an iPad to connect to a SD Card or a USB cable from a camera.

Finally got around to trying to use it. When I connect the card to the iPad, nothing happens, even if I go into Photos. Is there some simple step that I am missing.

Thanks

Pictures have to be formatted in a DCIM folder on the top level of the card, with photo names of 8 characters, no symbols anything else and it just won't see it.

Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.

Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).

Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)
