To Reset an iPod Touch, press-and-hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time, for at least ten seconds. During this time, the Apple logo should appear, which indicates that the iPod is resetting.


It can take several minutes to complete this process and it is different to (and less severe than) the Restore suggested by BalkeBan.
