Hello,
Since I updated iPhoto on my computer (version: Mac OS X 10.7.5), I am unable to open iPhoto. It crashes each time I try.
The same happens with Aperture ...
In consequence, I can't access my pictures :-(
What should I do?

Yes, it does crash that way too :-(
The installation has failed because of wrong permissions on the User Library.
Repair disk permissions and reinstall
To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.

I was just wondering, there are two pkg files:
1. com.apple.pkg.iPhoto_AppStore.bom
2. com.apple.pkg.iPhoto_AppStore.plist
Should I delete both of them?
Is there any risk that I lose my pictures/albums/events?

You need to log into the Account on the App Store that you used to purchase or set up your machine. Then you won't have to pay.
I think you need to reinstall the OS.

It's the same crash... You don't have the correct permissions to allow installation part of the App in your User Library.
Create a new account (systempreferences -> accounts or Users & Groups on 10.7 and 10.8), make a new iPhoto Library in that account, import some shots and see if the problem is repeated there.

I went into the account of my son and iPhoto does not crash and I can even import and see the pictures!!! Maybe we have something here! :-)
So, how can I do to open iPhoto on my account (preferably) and recover my pictures, events & albums?
Same crashing issue as the other. FYI, I have already deleted the receipts located in /Library/Receipts. Reinstalled iPhoto from iLife disk and then applied updates to v9.4.1, and also reapplied 10.8.2 combo updater. iPhoto still crashes.
