Q: my sons iphone 3g wont recognise the sim card

Hi, sorry if this is common problem and if I sound stupid!

I'm not particularly "techy" but I have managed to restore my sons iphone 3g to factory settings via Itunes, but after about 10 minutes of loading, I get a message saying there is no SIM card in the phone, when in actual fact there is a SIM from the correct network provider, which works fine in my Blackberry.

I can only attempt to activate the iphone if it is connected via USB to itunes, as it will not connect via wi-fi.

The phone was jailbroken, but I dont know what software was used for this.

The phone is in mint condition, so I dont want to have to scrap it if I can help it, but I'm stuck at this stage and cant get past it.

Any help would be ery welcome, but as I said, I'm not "techy", so please try to keep it as simple as possible, thanks!

    It is probably permanently bricked.

Jailbreaking can do permanent damage to iOS devices that can not be reversed. Updating or restoring a jailbroken device quite often renders it useless.

Sorry. You can't get help here.
