How do i get my wi-fi back to my ipad

Some how I have losy my wi-fi or it says not connected when already had wi-fi before

iPad 2, iOS 5.1.1

I would suggest that you upgrade to iOS 6 but first see if you can connect to the network - make sure that the Wi-Fi is turned on in settings - then if you can see the network on the iPad try the following - go to settings - choose Wi-Fi - press the arrow next to the network that you want to connect - choose "Forget This Network" - press "Forget" - then press Settings and turn off the iPad - turn it back on and wait it for it to reboot - then go to settings - choose Wi-Fi - press the Name of the network - enter the password and press "Join" - you should now be connected - if this works and you decide to upgrade to iOS 6, you might have to do the above to re-connect again.
