Microsoft Word Lag

Yet again I've encountered another problem with my mac, its been little over a month now and I recently got my battery replaced.

Now I'm noticing extreme lag when using Microsoft word, it literally just happened. It took me to the point where I had to restart my mac but that didn't seem to work. I've done some research and realized many people are having the same problem and the software itself must be at fault. Any suggestions ?
