Is iTunes up to date? At the time of this writing, 10.7 is the latest version. Are you connecting the iPod to a high powered USB 2.0 port located directly on the PC?

yes itunes uptodate and using 2.0 port on compuer
What happens if you reset the Nano while still connected? To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
It wouldn't hurt to also try another available USB port.
If all else fails, remove all Apple related software and re-install it from scratch using the instructions in this Apple support document.

tried reinstalling itunes computer works fine but itunes still freezes when i connected my ipod i tried both my new and old ipod .5th and 7th
Are you plugging the iPod into a USB port located directly on the PC versus through a hub or USB port on the front? Have you tried another USB cable?

What about another USB cable?
I'm running low on ideas other than to make sure your PC has enough available space on it's hard drive. Perhaps something here can help as well.
