Are you talking about a mobile Hot Spot device like a MIFI? I use a Verizon Mobile Hot Spot - the MIFI2200 - with my new iPad and it never "times out" on me. I was recently out of town and I used the hot spot off and on all week long - with much better success than using the resort's free WiFi which really suc**d and constantly gave me fits.
Define "times out".
