I can not open facebook using safari?

I don't know whether you can open Facebook in Safari.
On the assumption that you can't, might one ask what happens when you try to open it and what your OS X and Safari versions are?

iOS doesn't run on Macs. Select About This Mac from the Apple menu in the top left corner of the display. That will tell you your OS X version. Then select Safari > About Safari from the Safari menu bar.
osx 10.8.1 and safari 6.0. I I get a message that safari is using an incription and something about a certificate.
Please post the exact, complete text of the message, or a screenshot.
Safari is using an encrypted connection to www.facebook.com
Encryption with a digital certificate keeps information private as it's sent to and from the https websie www.facebook.com
That's not an error message.
OK> I still ha ve my problem The address bar shows an apple then a grayed https and a picture of a lock then www.facebook.com. when i hit return a blue line moves across the address bar and the results is a blank page.
please, help. I also have google on my IMAC and I can access facebook using google. I normally use Safari.
Select Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them and test.

Linc, if you don't mind, are you saying that if we're having this problem we've got to disable all our extensions and keep them that way? Extensions have become such a valuable part of the browser experience. It seems extreme that we have to choose between extensions or reaching certain websites, like Facebook or Youtube.
I was using Chrome until I realized how much of my CPU it was using up, causing all kinds of slow downs. I was happy wtih Chrome but moved back to Safari in order to free up the ridiculous amount of power Chrome ***** up. If I have to ditch all my extensions in Safari then I think I'd rather go and try to find yet another browser to switch to. I'm not a fan of Firefox so I'm quickly running out of options. Camino? Opera? Iron? They all seems to have their weaknesses.
I am having this same problem with Safari opening Facebook.. When I click on facebook it just sits there and loads but goes nowhere.. I have done all you said to do from emtpy my cookies to checking my extentions nothing has helped still wont load. Whats my next step anyone know?

i have exactly the same problem. I don't have any extensions in my extension list but if i turn them all off it won't change the problem. I've also tried resetting safari, throwing away the cache.db file in finder, removing all website data, i checked proxies, nothing works.
anyone else have tips?
