naming devices conntected to my time capsule

I am using a Time capsule as well as an airport express for internet coverage in my home.

I notice that I have 8 devices connected to my Time Capsule. I have multiple wireless devices including iphones and ipads and an Apple TV.

All of the devices are listed, but are listed as long combinations of letters and numbers. I would like to know what each of these devices are that are connecting to the TC or the AE. Is there a way of naming the individual devices?

Thanks.

There is, but there is also no guarantee that the name will appear in AirPort Utility. It might some of the time, or none of the time.

For iOS devices....

Tap Settings

Tap Wi-Fi

Tap the blue arrow next to the network name

Tap Client ID and enter the name that you want to use

On a Mac.....

Open System Preferences (gear icon on the dock)

Open Network

Click Wi-Fi or AirPort

Click Advanced at the lower right

Click the TCP/IP tab

Type in the name you want to use in the DHCP Client ID box

Click OK, then click Apply
