I have a late 2007 Macbook Pro and lately I've been having trouble with my battery/MagSafe adapter. I understand that one or both of them may be malfunctioning or just old, but I don't want to shell out for both if it may just be one of the two. When I plug in my MagSafe I get different results each time. Sometimes it will charge up with no problems which is always good. Sometimes I get a straight green light like it's charged completely but obviously it's not because it shows on my Macbook "not charging" or "calculating." Sometimes I get an orange light like it is charging but it never charges at all. My indication lights will blink showing they are starting to charge but they will stop after a while. Basically I don't know if it's the battery that is just old and dying or if my adapter is screwed up. I don't mind getting a replacement of either but I don't want to do it unneccesarily. Any help would be great, thanks in advance!

If you download Coconut battery you'll be able to check how your battery is doing: it'll give you a 'health status' and you can compare the amount of loading cycli to the amount of which Apple says that its reasonable to expect a battery to be less consistent.

    NateL2,

I am having the EXACT same problem -- did you figure anything out?

I went to my system profiler an it said that my battery condition was poor and I figured as much with it being 5 years old. It also showed that I had around 580 cycles but lately I had been plugging my adapter in and leaving it in after it had charged so I'm sure that hurt the battery life as well. Anyways I just ended up getting a new battery off Amazon since I didn't want to spend $130 (got one for $55, not Apple brand) and a new adapter for $22 (off brand that doesnt look like the MagSafe, it has a long slender charging block) and so far I've had no problems. I've only had them for a couple weeks so hopefully they will last and I won't have to drop $200 on Apple brand name. Hope this helps
