My apple tv works great but

My apple tv works well but I want my Iphone to connect all the time to system... I have a lap top and i pad as well as 2 iphones. Can they all be connected at same time? Can only one unit control system at a time? If they can, how do i toggle beteen units. My iphone eith connects or doesnt.. Very fustrating..
