Transfering ADAT Info To Logic Via Optical Cables?

I have a 2408 with pci324 card which is linked via optical cable to my ADAT.

On the ADAT I set the clock to internal and through the MOTU setup console I set the MOTU clock to ADAT, so basically the ADAT is the master clock. If I don't do this the audio drops out for about half a second in cycles, typical of clock mismatch.

Also in the MOTU console I set the INs and OUTs to ADAT and that's it. Both the ADAT ins and outs show up on my Logic channels and I just put the first 8 channels into record ready and asign their inputs to ADAT 1 through to 8.

I'm not sure how the MOTU Traveler setup utility differs from the much older 324 but I'm sure the concept is still the same.

I have an old blackface ADAT which works at 48k only, I know some of the later models could be switched to 44.1 so you need to set the sample rate accoringly in Logic.

The way ADATs were set to 44.1 was by using the pitch control to alow the tape speed down. This was a bit of a kludge, as the time code track was also slowed down. Even the BRC would spit out slowed down smpte code, which was of course unuseable.
