Pretty simple really - can i use non ecc ram in a 2008 2 x 2.8 quad mac pro?
If so what are the advantages/disadvantages in doing so?
Obviously ECC ram is more expensive & harder to find it seems...

For you, there is no such thing as FBDIMM that is not also ECC.

8 DIMMs offers best performance bandwidth and 17% boost while the above is 4% slower (667 vs 800MHz) you won't see or feel or notice the difference and off set by 13% using all DIMM slols.

Thanks for that - so there's no noticeable performance difference between the 667 & 800 modules?
Also what would be the best ram to get or are they all pretty much the same? The unit ill be buying is coming with 10gb so that should do me fine for now
